Essential Skills Wales - ICT - Level 2 Guidance.


Task 5 - E mail & Peer Evaluation
This task requires you to do the following:

  1. Send an email to a friend and to your teacher with your presentation attached. You must use the CC feature.
  2. You will then receive your friends presentation as an attachment in an email.
  3. Open and look at your friends presentation and fill in the table in the ‘2. Peer Evaluation.doc’ file.
  4. When you have completed the ‘2. Peer Evaluation’ you must send it back to your friend as an attachment. Make sure that you send it as a reply.
  5. When you receive the completed ‘2. peer evaluation’ from your friend you reply to say thank you.
  6. Make sure that you use screen shots to show evidence of what you have done. SEE EXAMPLE BELOW.

1. Your email address is the same as your ODIN/THOR username.

E.g. joeggs11@bryngwyn.carmarthen.sch.uk

2. If you do not know your partners email address then simply use the first three letters of their first name and the last three letters of their surname followed by the year that they started in the school.

E.g. Joesph Bloggs Year 8 would be joeggs11@bryngwyn.carmarthen.sch.uk
       Jessica Evans Year 9 would be  jesans10@bryngwyn.carmarthen.sch.uk

When you receive your partners PowerPoint presentation you must comment on their work by filling in the '2. Peer Evaluation' document. The document contains a table with several questions. The questions are explained below:

  • Are all slides accurate? E.g. Spelling, punctuation and grammar. Explain if they have mad any mistakes. If they have then you could write them down as a list.
  • Is the presentation plausible? E.g. Does the data relate to the purpose? Is the data in the presentation relevant to the travel agent. Are all the pictures there for a reason?
  • Is the presentation target the correct audience? The presentation is targeting an adult audience so the language and pictures should reflect this.
  • How effective is the colour scheme? Is there a colour scheme. If so do the colours compliment each other?
  • Does the presentation contain simple presentation and formatting techniques? E.g. bold, text alignment, colour, fonts, word art or borders, autoshapes, simple tables or Simple bullets or numbering. If they have not used any techniques then you could suggest improvements.
  • How effective is the layout? E.g. do you think that it is cluttered? Do you think there is too much information on each slide?
  • What is your overall impression of the presentation? This should be a summary of your overall opinion.
  • Additional comments. You could go into more detail be adding screen shots of the suggested improvements.

You can move on to the next task when you have:

  • Assessed your partners work and sent it back to them as a reply.
  • Saved a copy of your peer evaluation so that you can read the comments that you partner has made about how you can improve your work. 
  • Save the peer evaluation in the '6. Review of work' folder.
