BTEC Business Studies - Unit 2 - Business Organisations
Assignment Brief:
Dragon Café in Llanelli has been open for a few years and has done quite well, but recently another café has opened in competition and as a result trade has fallen.
The owner of Dragon Café thinks there is a lot of potential for the business if they appealed to a wider market such as firms on the near by industrial estate. They are also looking at other types of food they could offer to entice people from the competition. The owner currently thinks the business has no focus and it needs to set aims and objectives if it is to compete and move forward.
TASK 1 - A
The owner of Dragon Café has asked you to prepare a presentation which includes a clear explanation for the employees of what are aims and objectives. (P1)
Add additional information that identifies the purpose or reason for setting aims and objectives. (P2)
Task 1 - B
Carefully think of aims that would be appropriate for Dragon Café. Chose three aims and write objectives for each one.
Present your findings to your peers. When all have completed their presentations decide as a group which aims & objectives to adopt. (P3)
Task 1 - C
As a group identify three different organisations from each sector: private, public and not-for-profit/voluntary. Try to have a mix of ownership types. Once you have completed this you will need to investigate the aims & objectives of each one (use their website).
On your own compare these aims and objectives by identifying the similarities and differences. How do they relate to their sector, size of business and its ownership type? Write a summary of what you have found. (M1)
